FROM GENEVA AIRPORT (GVA Cointrin)
By car: 124kms on the A9 autoroute from Geneva Airport to Riddes, then a 13kms climb to the village at 1500m. A short drive from Sion Airport.
Train: from inside Geneva Airport to Riddes ~3 hours, changing at Martigny. Then bus/télépherique. See www.sbb.ch for integrated timetable - look at the Special Offers for 'Saver Day Pass' (a specific date, sld from 60 days in advance) and 'Supersaver' Pass (a specific train time/date in advance, even cheaper, but a problem with flight delays). For the SBB route planner set From Genève-Aéroport To La Tzoumaz (téléc. Savoleyres). Be aware a lot of the standard single/return prices assume you have a 50% Discount Card (abonnement) - most nationals will have one but they're not usually economic for a visitor. If you're going to use the train, then download the SBB mobile app which offers an easy way to buy/carry a ticket.
Taxi from Martigny/Riddes: There are regular trains from Geneva Airport to Martigny and RIddes. A taxi from these stations is usually around CHF 80, but best organised in advance.
FROM CALAIS:
From Calais Eurotunnel: 850 kms (746 on autoroutes) 8h30m via Besançon to Lausanne (map, top) then A9 to Riddes. See viaMichelin.com Using the Swiss autoroutes requires a Vignette (purchased on-line, at border or petrol stations).
Overnight stop?: the ½-way point by driving time is roughly between Troyes and Besançon.
